Millrace Rowing Club
Volunteer-run on the river since 1954 — juniors, seniors and Sunday recreational rowing
A club on the river since 1954
Millrace sits on a stretch of river just outside town, where rowers have been launching boats for seven decades. Today we're 140 members strong across three squads, run entirely by volunteers who love the river.
Three squads, one clubhouse
Juniors row midweek and weekends. Seniors compete year-round. Every Sunday morning the recreational squad takes to the water, no experience needed. All three share the boathouse and the river.
New to rowing?
We run a learn-to-row course twice a year for complete beginners. No experience, no strength required — just a willingness to learn and turn up early.
Regattas and socials
We host two regattas each summer — the main event and a smaller fixture — where crews from across the region come to race. Between the racing and the water, the clubhouse is open to members for suppers, quiz nights and the kind of gatherings that keep a community tight.
