About Millrace Rowing Club
Our history
Millrace Rowing Club was founded in 1954 on the river just outside town. For seventy years, we've stayed true to our roots: a volunteer-run club where people come to row, build friendships and look after the water we love. We're not a business — we're a clubhouse run by the people who row here.
Run by volunteers
Every session you row, every competition we host, and every boat we maintain happens because volunteers give their time. Our coaches are rowers who love teaching. Our committee members sort the schedules, manage the boats and organise socials. If you want to row, teach or help run the club, there's always a place for you.

The clubhouse
Our clubhouse sits on the riverbank, right where we row. It's where we store the boats, change and dry off, and gather for tea and talk after outings. It's the heart of who we are — the place where rowers become a crew.
